Camron Gorguinpour, PhD
Dr. Camron Gorguinpour is a Principal at Wōden, llc, a management and strategy consulting firm developing large-scale opportunities in new and emerging markets. Prior to joining Wōden, Dr. Gorguinpour worked in the United States Defense Department as a senior executive service appointee for the Administration of President Barack Obama. Most recently, he stood up the Air Force Office of Transformational Innovation (OTI) and served as its first Director. OTI reports to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisitions (SAF/AQ) and is responsible for designing and executing reform efforts with potential for rapid and dramatic improvement to Air Force acquisition activities. Dr. Gorguinpour worked with internal and external stakeholders soliciting, advocating for, and implementing transformative concepts in a wide range of subject areas. Concurrently, he served as Executive Director for the Department of Defense Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Program. In this capacity he designed and executed a successful large-scale, multi-year program integrating PEV's into the Defense Department’s non-tactical vehicle fleet.
Prior to his work in the Pentagon, Dr. Gorguinpour served as Executive Director for Scientists & Engineers for America – a 501c-3 nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to engaging scientists and engineers in public policy and political activities. Dr. Gorguinpour also served for six years as Co-Founder and Executive Director for Space Science Outreach and Research (SSOAR) – a 501c-3 nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting science and education. Through SSOAR, Dr. Gorguinpour initiated numerous STEM programs to benefit underserved youth, including the creation of two public charter schools in collaboration with NASA, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation. Dr. Gorguinpour served for four years as a lecturer and part-time faculty member in the Bioengineering Department of the University of California, Berkeley. In this role, he created and taught courses in the field of Bioastronautics.
Dr. Gorguinpour earned his PhD from the UC Berkeley/UC San Francisco Joint Graduate Program in Bioengineering, with an emphasis in Bioastronautics. His area of specialty was in evaluating the radiation impact on human health and performance in space. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Astrophysics and Physics from UC Berkeley.
